Christie: Artist in Studio
Last year, I had the opportunity to participate in an exhibition put on by a temporary art gallery called Current Studios, in their bARTer show. This featured artwork by many local artists and gave the public a change to bid on the art with services, products, art, etc. basically anything other than money. One of the first pieces I saw when entering the gallery was a large abstract painting on wood with a sculpted bird resting on top, and I fell in love with it. I bid with photo sessions, and the artist chose my bid! It was such a great opportunity for me - for one I now have a gorgeous piece of art that I wouldn’t have been able to afford at this point in my life, but it also gave me the chance to build a relationship with this artist. She chose to do photos of herself in her studio, and it was so interesting to see the way she works. Her home is also basically a gallery of her work and her interior design plays perfectly with her art.
